Swinging Blue Jeans 1986
I was touring East Germany with Cavern and also on the bill was The Rubettes and The Swinging Blue Jeans. I got on great with The Jeans and on our return back to England I went to see them perform in Blackpool. I was a little surprised to see that they didn't have a sound guy or tour manager. Cavern at that time was just about to split and Wayne Fontana had retired so It looked like I may have a bit of time on my hands. Ray Ennis asked me if I was interested in working with them. The money was good and I needed a change so I accepted. That was one of the best moves I ever made. I worked with the Jeans until the early 90's. I travelled the world and met some great promoters, some of which I am still working with to this day. During this period I also played drums on several TV shows with the band. I remember doing a TV show in Belfast. It was a live gig but also being televised. I was scared to death, I wasn't exactly Cozy Powell but Ray, Colin and Les was behind me 100%. When my son Adam was born Ray Ennis and Colin Manley became the Godfathers. I still keep in contact with Ray Sadly both Colin and Les have since passed away but the band will always be special to me. They really put me on the right track.
