1 - Under American Skies (Barton)

This song was inspired by a title that Pete Spencer mentioned to me. My wife's dad was from Belfast. So I guess its leaning that way. Pete Spencer (Smokie) is on drums. Jerry on guitar, Pete Zorn (Richard Thomson Band) on flute. Scott Whitley on bass and Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) is on electric guitar. There is also a recorder and a harp in there these are played by a trio called Minstrells Gallery.

2 - Faith (Barton)

We all have faith. Whatever we believe in. We all believe in something. Everything is too speciaI not to believe in something.

3 - Sad But True (Barton)

My dads brother was killed in the second world war. I stll have the letters from the ministry of defence. Many things happen. You have to live each day like its your last, sad but true.

4 - Dancing In My Dreams (Barton)

I wrote this song when I was going crazy. I just didnt know if I was coming or going.

Chip Hawkes (The Tremeloes) and Doug Morter(Albion Band) on backing vocals. Scott Whitley on bass and the ever present Jerry on guitar. The harp player is Ben Ruth(The Convulsions).

5- Ragetty Rag (Barton, Steel, Williamson)

A little bit different, Dont really know what was going through my head.

This is another song that was first released on the 'Animals and Friends, album 'Instinct'.

It features Rob Woodward (Lieutenant Pigeon) on piano, Pete Zorn (Richard Thomson Band) on sax. Scott Whitley on double bass and me and Jerry on acoustics.

6 - No Smoke Without Fire (Barton)

This song is really about my long term soul mate. My wife.

Backing vocals on this session are sang by Chip Hawkes (The Tremeloes), Alan Silson (Smokie), Jeff Brown (Sweet) and Pete Spencer (Smokie), Acoustics and electrics Jerry Donahue. The Strings are Sam Hird. Drums Pete Spencer.

7 - Drowning on Dry Land (Barton)

I wrote this song about a very good friend of mine I used to perform with.

8 - Cotton and Coal (Barton,Steel, Williamson)

I am a lancashire lad. My Grandad used to work on the canals and my Gran used to work in the mill. I always remember rag and bone men going down my street when I was a kid.

A bit of a different song. Barry Bleasard on Trumpet and Cornet (Clitheroe Brass Band). Harp and Citern (Minstrells Gallery). Jerry Donahue on guitar, Ben Ruth on harmonica and Pete Spencer on drums and tambourine. I dont remember who plays the harmonium, I think it was Minstrells Gallery.

9 - Bed of lies (Barton, Steel and Williamson)

Another veteran of the first Animals and Friends album. No really story about this. I wrote in Russia while we was playing a club called The Station.

10 - Geronimo (Barton)

I was doing a gig in Italy, and there was a poster on the wall which had the image of Geronimo it said born 1829. The image and date conjured up this song.

I,m doing the Indian Chant. Guitars Jerry Donahue, Bass is Scott Whitley, Pete Spencer plays drums and authentic American Indian Drums. Cliff Stocker on Harmonica.
