Cavern 1981
Cavern 1981 - 1988

Cavern
In 1981 I was asked to join a band from Preston called Cavern, they had released several singles on the Kay Drum record label. I was about 19 years old. The band was influenced very much by The Beatles. Needless to say I joined the band. We toured all over the world inc Germany, Holland, Scandinavia etc. In 1982 I got married and we was asked to go to Bermuda to perform a four week residency. It was a big decision for me at the time. But I decided it was too good a gig to pass up. We performed at The Forty Thieves club in Hamilton. The week before, American band 'Orleans' whose hits included 'Dance with Me' had just finished their stint and when we left our slot was taken over by Billy Preston of Beatles fame. Incidentally John Lennon wrote most of his Double Fantasy album on Bermuda and he regularly went to this club. Cavern lasted up to the end of 1988. Although in this time I still performed with other bands. Our last major tour was in East Germany before the wall came down. We performed at around tour thirty cities. Now that was an experience. It was like Beatlemania, crazy. The other two bands on the bill was The Rubettes and The Swinging Blue Jeans. The band consisted of me on Bass, Garry Gibson, Guitar/vocals, Graham \Pollock guitar/vocals and we had several drummers in this period including Pete Long, Phil Knight and Bernard Holden. The band release two singles which had extensive radio one play. The band was produced by Pete Collins. The second single 'Rain until September' was picked by Peter Waterman.
In case you dont recognise me, I,m the 3rd from the left.
